Information About

Living Legends

Living Legends is a Hip-hop Musical Collective based in Los Angeles, California .

BACKGROUND

The collective started out in 1992 as a duo that went by the Mystik Journeymen moniker. The Oakland, California -based act included BFAP (a.k.a. Sunspot Jonz ) and '''PSC''' (a.k.a. Luckyiam ). By 1994 , they cultivated a Fan Base through their "Underground Survivors" House Parties , held at their loft (located at 4001 San Leandro Street in East Oakland.) In 1995 , the duo encountered an emcee named Grouch at one of such events, just before they embarked on their first European tour.

Around the same time in Los Angeles, a hip-hop act known as the Log Cabin crew disbanded. A trio of Rappers known as the 3 Melancholy Gypsys were part of the Log Cabin troupe, ended up being stuck in Limbo after the dissolution. That was until 1996 , when the Gypsys — namely MURS , Scarub, and Eligh — crossed paths in the Bay Area with the Journeymen. Both outfits pooled resources to form what is now known as Living Legends.

In 1999 , the Legends relocated to Los Angeles, without diminishing their fan base in Oakland or the Bay Area. Over the years, the collective has embarked on world tours, which included various venues on the continent of Europe , as well as Japan , and Australia . They have also toured extensively in North America .

The group's 2005 release, entitled ''"Classic"'', was recorded in Maui, Hawaii .

SIDE PROJECTS

Members of the collective have released solo and "crew" projects, creating an overall catalog that includes more than 50 full-length albums and numerous singles. As a result of their DIY ethos, the collective has sold over ''200,000 albums''. Releases independent of the collective have been made by '''''CMA''''' (a duo consisting of Grouch and Luckyiam), '''''Scarub''''', and Sunspot Jonz.
