Liverpool Garston is a Constituency represented in the House Of Commons of the Parliament Of The United Kingdom . It elects one Member Of Parliament (MP) by the First Past The Post system of election.


BOUNDARIES


The constituency is one of five covering the city of Liverpool , covering the southern part of the city. As well as Garston , it contains areas such as Allerton , Netherley , Speke and Woolton . Liverpool John Lennon Airport is located in the constituency.

The Liverpool Garston seat will be abolished at the next election following boundary chanages, to be replaced with a new Garston And Halewood constituency, which will also cover part of the Knowsley borough.


HISTORY


The Labour Party have held Liverpool Garston since the 1983 General Election . Prior to that time the constituency was a Labour/ Conservative Marginal ; however since then the Conservative share of the vote has declined to less than 10% in the 2005 Election , when they came third behind the Liberal Democrats .
