Liverpool is a village located the town of Salina, New York in Onondaga County , New York , USA and is a northern Suburb of Syracuse, New York . As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 2,505.

The Village of Liverpool was formed in 1830 .


GEOGRAPHY

Liverpool is located at 43°6'21" North, 76°12'34" West (43.105967, -76.209564). It takes up most of the northeastern bank of Onondaga Lake .

According to the United States Census Bureau , the village has a total area of 1.9 Km&2 (0.8 Mi&2 ). 1.9 km&2 (0.8 mi&2) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.


DEMOGRAPHICS

As of the Census of 2000, there were 2,505 people, 1,154 households, and 641 families residing in the village. The Population Density was 1,289.6/km&2 (3,321.9/mi&2). There were 1,219 housing units at an average density of 627.5/km&2 (1,616.5/mi&2). The racial makeup of the village was 95.93% White , 1.32% African American , 0.20% Native American , 1.28% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.36% from Other Races , and 0.92% from two or more races. 1.80% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 1,154 households out of which 24.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.9% were Married Couples living together, 11.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 44.4% were non-families. 36.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.16 and the average family size was 2.86.

In the village the population was spread out with 20.6% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 16.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 84.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.3 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $37,581, and the median income for a family was $45,179. Males had a median income of $40,426 versus $25,559 for females. The Per Capita Income for the village was $22,344. 11.6% of the population and 10.8% of families were below the Poverty Line . 20.0% of those under the age of 18 and 6.1% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
