Born in Philadelphia , Creed had her first success in 1971 when Dusty Springfield recorded her song “Free Girl.” Her work with Bell, initially with The Stylistics and then with The Spinners , brought her huge commercial success. She was also co-writer of “The Greatest Love Of All” for George Benson , a song which later became a major hit for Whitney Houston . Creed died of Breast Cancer in 1986 , aged only 37. She is survived by her husband, Stephen Epstein, and her two daughters. Creed was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992. EXTERNAL LINKS |
