Justin himself explained: My solo project is not meant to be or replace Anti-Flag. I do it for a number of reasons. First off, I am constantly writing songs—way more than I could ever do with or without Anti-Flag. That said, my only real opportunity to record and play many of the songs I write is to do them on my own. Secondly, Anti-Flag is a band that is very much focused on a specific socio-political agenda (with a little bit of fun and humor thrown in at times), which is obviously important to me. However, I write songs about other topics too. Some of those topics just don’t seem to fit into the Anti-Flag category. So while my solo songs are sometimes anti-war anthems, etc., you’ll also find me writing about love, and friendships, and just about anything. I could do this with Anti-Flag, but when we started Anti-Flag I do not believe it was our goal to play such songs. We may throw a curve ball at you now and then, but mostly I don’t see us straying too far from the path which we came. SOURCES |
