An LDS Mission is primarily a Religious expedition in which members of the Mormon church who reach a certain age are called to serve a mission in a certain place. Missionaries are trained at the MTC or Missionary Training Center , primarily located in Provo, Utah . Missions can range from all over the world. Sometimes, a missionary is called to serve a mission in his hometown. Other times, they go to a third world country. They serve there for two years, attempting to not necessarily convert, but simply discuss and spread the message to people of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints . LDS Missionaries constantly face Religious Discrimination and Poverty during their term of service. That is not unlike the LDS church's humble beginnings in he 1800's, where they were driven out of states by the government simply because of their religion, which violated their First Amendment rights. |
