HISTORY

Laurier Macdonald was Founded in 1969 to serve the English-speaking Catholic Population of Saint-Léonard, Quebec and its surrounding area. The current building at the corner of Viau Street and Jean-Talon Street was opened to students in 1983 . The school had previously been housed in a facility on the south side of The Metropolitan Autoroute , between Lacordaire Boulevard and Langelier Boulevard .

Religious Sponsorship

The school has been Officially Secular since the reorganization of the public school system in Quebec during the Mid-1990's . While Crucifixes can still be found in many places throughout the school, Mass is no longer celebrated for students on major Catholic Feast Days and A Priest who formerly served as Pastoral Animator has been replaced by a lay Spiritual and Community Animator. Multifaith and community celebrations are now privileged.
