Lara Powers is a lady pirate who sailed the seas of the west indies in the 17th century. Her vessel was seized by British '''Admiral Joseph Taylor''', who promtly had her hung in Boston Harbor for "piracy and acts unbecoming of a lady." There is currently a museum in northern Massachussets that honors her as "the black queen of the high seas." {Link without Title} |
