The fauna that inhabit the waters of the island include scads, yellow tail barracudas, jacks. Other fauna include Claw Anemone Fish es, Decorator and Spider Crab s, Coral Shrimp s, Nudibranch s, Prawn Gobie s, Seahorse s, Ghost Pipefish , Flying Gunard s, Parrotfish , Ray s, Guitarfish and Manatee s. The indigenous plants include Casuarina Tree s and Pandan Screwpine . On October 13, 2003, Lankayan Island was declared part of the Sugud Islands Marine Conservation Area . As part of SIMCA, all resource harvesting (fishing etc.) will be prohibited by the state government of Sabah, Malaysia . REFERENCES
