Langley Regional Airport is located in Langley , British Columbia , Canada . The airport serves mostly General Aviation , though charter operations are sometimes conducted. Helicopter operations are a major part of Langley Airport's traffic, and the airport has 3 Helipad s.

Due to the proximity of Vancouver International Airport and Abbotsford International Airport , Langley hosts no Scheduled Passenger Service . The airport does offer fuel services and extensive Hangar space though, and hosts the Canadian Museum Of Flight .

GENERAL INFORMATION

The airport has two Runway s to it, both of which are short in length. Therfore this makes it a good airport for Flight Training purposes as a pilot is then more capable at landing an aircraft on whatever length of runway. At the end of the asphalt runway is the Fraser Highway and another major road. This means that there is little room for error with the take off and landing of aircraft on the runway.

Due to the close proximity of the airport to residence, the left hand circuits for runway 19 are altered slightly in order to avoid these residencial areas. For greater detail please check the NOTAM S for Langley or the Canada Flight Supplement .

Langley has the opperating frequencies of 119.00 for the Control Tower , 124.50 for the ATIS , and 121.90 for the ground service. However these can change and it is a good idea to check before hand if you decide to fly into Langley.

Mainly the airport is used for flight training purposes for helicopter and fixed wing pilots. A lot of pilots carry out Circuit s, as well as "fly the gates" which is when a pilot flies to different extremities of the airports Control Zone to learn how to approach an airport from different directions.

NEWS

The airport's turf runway 07 and 25 is currently shut as they are preparing the ground for construction of new hangers as well as the eventual upgrade to an asphalt runway. However this is likely to be a few years off, and is only the prepatory ground work.

HISTORY

In 1945 , at the end of World War II , the township of Langley leased the former Royal Canadian Air Force airport from the federal government before purchasing the airport outright in 1967 for $24,300. Since then, the airport has been in continuous operation.
