Information About

Lancaster Red Roses

The Pennsylvania ball club was originally known as the Maroons, but changed its name at the start of the 1906 season, during a bitter match with the York, Pennsylvania -based White Roses. Some sources indicate that the rival teams were named for the opposing factions in England's historic War Of The Roses .

The Red Roses remained active until 1914. Later minor league ball clubs that bore the name were active between 1940-1952, 1954-1955, and 1958-1961.
