Lake of the Woods is a subdivision of approximately 400 homes in the northern portion of Peoria County , along the western bluff of the Illinois River Valley. Created by real estate developer Harold Jenn in the 1960s, it began a decades-long population shift in the Greater Peoria area towards areas to the north of the city of Peoria, a trend that continues today. Most of its residents attend Mossville School, although a few houses are in the Dunlap school district. The center of the neighborhood is a man-made lake covering approximately 40 acres. The neighborhood is governed by a homeowner's association. It lies within Medina Township, which supplies most of its governmental services. |
