''Labour Day'' is a 1988 album by Spirit Of The West .

The album's best-known song is " Political ", which was the first song to gain widespread airplay for the band on Campus Radio and CBC Radio One . When the band evolved into an Alternative Rock group in the 1990s , their 1991 album '' Go Figure '' included a controversial revamp of that song.

It was the band's first album with Hugh MacMillan . MacMillan found the tour to support the album draining, and took a temporary hiatus from the band; he was replaced by Daniel Lapp and Linda McRae . However, MacMillan returned before the band's next album. Lapp left on MacMillan's return, but McRae stayed with the band until 1996 .
