La Banda el Recodo ( also called '''La Banda Sinaloense ''', meaning ''The Sinaloa n Band'' ) is one of the most well-known Mexican Banda groups. It has been under the direction of the Lizarraga family, from its founding in the year 1938 . La Banda el Recodo has performed with other popular artists such as Juan Gabriel and Vicente Fernández . La Banda el Recodo was founded in 1938 by Don Cruz Lizárraga (b. July 1 , 1918 ; d. June 17 , 1995 ), a native of Sinaloa . Although he had to drop out of junior high school to go to work, Lizarraga was an excellent bandleader and musician. Self-educating himself in the Clarinet , he was forced to sell one of his Hog s to pay for his new musical instrument. Once he moved to Mazatlán , Sinaloa , Lizarraga signed a deal with RCA Victor and soon formed La Banda el Recodo. Due to his death in 1995 , Lizarraga's son has taken over the banda and has made extensive international concert tours.
