Brodziak was selected by the Oilers in the 7th round (214th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft . After completing his junior career with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL , he made his professional debut with the Edmonton Road Runners of the AHL in 2004-05 . Starting the 2005-06 season with the Iowa Stars of the AHL, he was recalled to the big club almost immediately due to an injury to Mike Peca . Brodziak made his NHL debut with the Oilers wearing sweater number 15 on October 15, 2005 at Calgary . He played 5 games during his initial stint with the Oilers before being reassigned to the minor leagues October 24 , 2005 . He was recalled to the Oilers on November 2, 2005 for another 2 games in Edmonton silks, returning to Iowa on November 10 , 2005 .
