Korean drama refers to televised dramas, similar to Western Soap Opera s, produced in the Korean Language for Korean audiences. Many of these dramas have become popular throughout Asia, and have contributed to the general phenomenon of Korean Wave . Most popular Korean dramas originate in South Korea, although some North Korean dramas have also become popular in Japan . One of the most internationally popular Korean dramas is the South Korean show '' Winter Sonata ''. These shows typically involve conflicts involving marital relationships, money bargaining, and most often, in-laws (usually between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law). A lot of Korean televisions have similarities such as comic programs, dramas, news, and many other genres as the Japanese television. However, the power of chinese culture also made a great impect on korea society as well as the Japanese culture. Some popular korean dramas like Dae Jang Geum was a good instance to introduce their traditional way of life. The korean wave seems to have cooled down on the Japanese market. A reason for this might be the competitive force of other countries, such as Taiwanese Drama s; another reason for this might be that few Korean pop stars have been successful on the Japanese market after Winter Sonata . Japanese fans seem to know only Bae Yong Jun and Choi Jin Woo . SEE ALSO
