Knights of Xentar is an Eroge RPG released for Windows PC MS-DOS in North America in 1995 by Megatech Software , which has been out of business since the mid 90s. It is also known as '''Dragon Knight 3''' in Japan and is part of the Dragon Knight series of games created by Japanese game developer ELF. In the Megatech release of the game, the names of the two main characters were changed. For example, Baan as he was known in the Japanese version was changed to Rolf and Takeru, the main hero of the game, is changed to Desmond. The dialouge was also extremely edited and modified, including having major localization such as Working Designs does for example with some of the Japanese RPGs they translate. The North American release's dialouge for example included many American pop culture references and jokes and several times broke the fourth wall with the Megatech script writers even joining in the heroes conversation. Desmond's partners, Rolf and Luna and even some of the girls Desmond meets make fun of him cruelly, making this quite a humorous RPG. This was the second hentai RPG released by Megatech after Cobra Mission and the only Dragon Knight game to be released outside Japan. Megatech had released two versions of this game, an NR-13 and NR-18 version. The NR-18 version was the uncensored version whereas the NR-13 was censored in that all the nude girls had their private parts covered up by hands or clothing and some of the crude, crass dialouge was edited as well. The NR-13 version could be upgraded to the NR-18 version via a patch. This game has been out of production for over a decade and is extremely hard to find a physical copy although quite easy to download from freeware sites. It is generally considered Abandonware . SYNOPSIS You control a young warrior named Desmond (Takeru in the Japanese version). After liberating Strawberry Fields from an evil curse in his previous adventure, Desmond finds himself in a situation unworthy of his heroic status: robbers have taken all his possessions, including his magic sword, and even his clothes! So the first task for the unsuccessful hero will be to get some money. Luckily, the mayor has an assignment for you, for which he is also willing to pay. Desmond accepts the assignment without knowing what it will lead to - traveling all over the world, fighting fearsome enemies, encountering beautiful women, and solving a mystery that will also reveal the secret of his own true identity! "Knights of Xentar" is a humorous RPG with erotic content. The RPG system is completely different from that of the previous games. You travel now in top-down view on the world map, visiting towns and dungeons, like in most traditional Japanese RPGs. The enemy encounters are fully random. During the battles (which are now top-down, Final Fantasy-style), your party and the enemies attack each other automatically. You can pause the battle at any time to cast a spell, use an item, or change your attack style. You have an attack gauge with 8 different attack levels. At higher levels, you can execute more powerful attacks, but your speed decreases. "Knights of Xentar" features animé-style cut scenes, many of which contain nude erotic images - the girls Desmond encounters and helps will often feel grateful and award him with some "treatment". However, there are no explicit hardcore sex scenes in the game and the girl's vaginas are censored for instance. |
