Kitchener-Waterloo (a.k.a '''K-W''' or '''K-Dub''') is an unofficial but ubiquitous name for the metropolitan area in Ontario, Canada consisting of the Twin Cities of Kitchener and Waterloo . These two cities grew into each other decades ago and their shared boundary cuts through streets, backyards and houses. Kitchener was known as 'Berlin' until WWI . Cambridge, Ontario has now also grown to share a border with K-W. All three cities share the Regional Municipality Of Waterloo , located approximately 100 kilometres west of Toronto, Ontario , Canada . K-W is known for its surrounding small town culture including farmers and Mennonites. Waterloo is the home of Perimeter Institute For Theoretical Physics , and is also the location of the headquarters of Research In Motion , makers of the BlackBerry device. ATTRACTIONS
