In Project Management (more common usage) it refers to a Project that has accreted more and more Features as time progresses, to have "everything but the ''kitchen sink''". In Computing this usually refers to software that is considered Bloatware . Sometimes the terms Feature Creep and Scope Creep are used. The phrase originated in World War II, or shortly after, where houses were modular. You could move, and take almost everything out. The only thing that could NOT be moved is the kitchen sink, which was bolted down. This also leads to an instant cliche in fiction, where a character packs, uses, has, or attacks with, "Everything but the kitchen sink." Then, the person pulls out the kitchen sink! SEE ALSO |
