The Kingdom of Fez was a powerful kingdom in what is today known as Algeria , Spanish Plaza De Soberanía and Morocco . It extended as far east as the gates of Tlemsen ,(or Tlemcen), a town in northwestern Algeria. The Algerian-Morocco region was divided into two separate provinces in ancient times, Fez and Morocco, that were separated by the Bouragrag River , which empties into the sea between Rabat and Salee . Each province was governed by independent princes. 1415 lost Ceuta and Perejil island to Portugal . 1497 Spain captured Melilla , zone frontier with the Tlemsen Kingdom . SEE ALSO REFERENCES
