Jurassic Park Interactive was the only strategy-based simulation game based around the classic Spielberg film of 1993. It was released in 1994 only for the 3DO by Universal Interactive. The game was set up like a computer screen and allowed you to navigate a map of the island, as well as a collection of 5 minigames programmed by Dennis Nedry, the film's original villain. Players had to locate various guests on the map, then engage in a short action level that either involved outrunning a T-Rex in a jeep, escaping a small building from Raptors, or shooting out approaching Spitters with a charged electric gun. The end of the game would come once you had successfully relocated all of the island's guests to the helipad dock and located outside help by breaking through Nedry's minigames. During the 3DO's short lifespan (of only two years), Jurassic Park Interactive was one of the system's greatest sellers and was considered by many professional critics to be its best title. |
