Junior firefighters are minors who serve with fire departments across America. Age 14 through 17 is the general span to be considered a junior firefighter. Juniors will assist on Fire calls within a specified time limit set by child labor laws. However, their primary objective is training. Junior firefighters train with their companies, and do the things which they are not permitted to do under real emergency circumstances. Such activities include: -Entering a simulated fire building while breathing off an air bottle -Forcible entry, extrication, and ventilation using tools like Halligan Tools , axes, Hook s, and occasionally Saw s -Interior Fire containment - Search And Rescue On a fireground, junior firefighters get Tools and equipment for senior Firefighter s. They also perform accountability, which is keeping track of firefighters on a fireground. They can participate in clean up and some exterior fire containment after they have recived sufficent training. Junior firefighters are equipped with [turnout Equipment , but wear a different color helmet or have a different Shield Color than senior firefighters. Those colors are usually Green or Orange .
