Joel Block is co-host and chief audio producer for the internationally syndicated '' Earth & Sky '' radio series.

One of the most popular voices on Commercial and Public Radio , Block got his start as a " Gopher " and assistant Music Librarian at WOR-FM in New York City , followed by a 3-year stint in the US Air Force's American Forces Network , where his talents took him to such exotic locales as Wichita Falls, Texas , and Thule , Greenland .

From 1978 to 1991, he was the voice of a daily radio series on astronomy, ''Star Date'', which was produced by Deborah Byrd . In 1991, he and Byrd launched the ''Earth & Sky'' radio series.

Prior to that, Block had opened The Production Block in Austin, Texas in 1974 as a small sound studio, located in a spare bedroom. Today, the facility features three fully-equipped digital studios for producing radio programs, audio books, commercials and video soundtracks for local, regional and national clients. Committed to quality, this award-winning facility is the home production studio for ''Earth & Sky''.
