BIOGRAPHY Frank was born in New York City , N.Y., in 1889. He graduated from University Of Chicago . He joined the Securities And Exchange Commission . Then he became a Judge of the U.S. Court Of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit from 1941 until he died in 1957. Frank was general counsel to the Agricultural Adjustment Agency (AAA) during the New Deal, where he supervised the work of Alger Hiss , a staff attorney at the time. WORKS Frank published many influential books including ''Law and the Modern Mind'' (1930), which argues for ‘legal realism’ and emphasizes the psychological forces at work in legal matters. His other major work, ''Courts on Trial'' (1949), stressed the uncertainties and fallibility of the judicial process. SEE ALSO |
