Jarrow Brewing Company

Trade picked up very quickly and soon a deal was struck up with Beer distributor Flying Firkin to supply other Pubs nationwide with the beer. The first beer to be produced was "Jobling's Swinging Gibbett", a 4.1% copper coloured Ale . This was followed by "Jarrow Bitter", or simply "JB" by its regular following, a light, golden session Bitter at 3.8%. Other beers include "Old Cornelius", a dark strong ale at 4.8%, named after Cornelius Whalen, the last surviving Jarrow Marcher . Since the opening of the Jarrow Brewery at the Robin Hood, Jess and Alison McConnell have opened up "The Matlings" public house in South Shields , and a further brewery, "The Westoe Brewery", is planned to open at the site in the very near future.
