His election for president of the TS Pasadena was very controversial. As a result, some Theosophical Societies left the TS Pasadena to form the TS Point Loma-Covina. James Long founded the theosophical journal Sunrise (magazine) . He also endeavored to enlarge the ''Theosophical Library Center''. He was succeeded by Grace F.
