This movie had generally bad reviews, and it's main point of interest is that it is the movie debut for American Idol alumni Kelly Clarkson who had a small cameo role. ''American Idol'' Kelly Clarkson in Gay Film . Ted Trent, owner of the website that is distributing Issues 101, said, "Kelly is the American Idol and will be for years to come. Her performance in a gay-themed film only proves that she deserves the title of diva and idol all rolled into one." According to Trent, "Issues 101 is not a porn movie, as it does not show penises or insertion shots. Rather, he likens the sexual content to imagery seen on Showtime's Queer As Folk and other programs, which show men hugging, kissing, and in intimate situations."
