CANDIDATES Nicholas J.S.F. Boragina Jr. ( Parkdale-Belvedere ) Nick Boragina (born December 19 , 1984 ) is the youngest candidate As Of 2005 to have ever run in an election for public office on PEI, at the Federal, Provincial, or Municipal levels. He was 18 years and 9 months on election day. After leaving PEI, Boragina left the NDP, stating that he was only involved in the party to support Gary Robichaud, the leader. He currently resides in Toronto and is a member of the Conservative Party. Peter Robinson ( Cascumpec-Grand River ) Peter Robinson is a school teacher in PEI. He is a personal friend of former Island New Democrat leader, and past MLA, Dr. Herb Dickieson . J'Nan Brown ( Charlottetown-Rochford Square ) J'Nan Brown is a well known member of the Island New Democrats, and has been involved with Fair Vote Canada and other electoral reform orginizations, provincial and national. She recently served as a Commissioner on the Commission on Prince Edward Island's Electoral Future, which proposed Proportional Representation for PEI. Kevin Roach ( Charlottetown-Kings Square ) Kevin Roach is most well known for admitting to the media, during the election, that he felt pressured into running by former leader, Dr.Herb Dickieson, who denied ever pressuring Mr.Roach. He asked Elections PEI if he could be withdrawn from the ballot, but this request was denied. James Rodd ( Borden-Kinkora ) James Rodd is the former, and As Of 2005 current Party President. He ran in the district of Borden-Kinkora which was the home of the Island New Democratic leader Gary Robichaud. Robicaud chose to run in the riding he worked in, rather than the one he lived in. This is Rodd's third separate term as President. Ken Bingham ( Park Corner-Oyster Bed ) Ken Bingham is a well known candidate for the Island New Democrats and the federal NDP. He ran against Gary Robichaud for party leader, and some say after losing, he continued the battle. A rift between the two, which sometimes erupted into the public sphere as over the pesticide issue, never seemed to heal. As of March 2006, Ken Bingham was found guilty of sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching involving a girl under the age of 14 by Judge Douglas. The prior allegations last spring led to Bingham's resignation from the PEI NDP executive and from further involvement with the NDP PEI Malpeque Federal Riding Association. Bingham’s denial of inappropriate sexual contact with the victim came one day after he pleaded guilty to charges involving sexual touching that related to incidents involving the girl’s brother where he pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation against a boy under the age of 14. Bingham will be sentenced on April 5th, 2006. Ed Kilfoil ( West Point-Bloomfield ) Ed Kilfoil is a very close and personal friend of Dickieson. When Dickieson decided not to run in his old riding, Kilfoil volunteered to fill in, even going to the extent of un-nominating himself from a neighbouring riding to run here. With Dickieson's help in the campaign, Kilfoil was able to make the best finish, in terms of percentage of votes cast, of any Island New Democratic candidate in the election, but failed to reach the 15% needed for a refund of election expensis.
