Heading south from Luxemburg, the highway follows a southerly course until it reaches Oxford Junction, Iowa . It then follows an easterly course until reaching Goose Lake, Iowa , then it follows a south-easterly course until reaching Clinton and the Mississippi River. The highway crosses U.S. Highway 61 a few miles south of Maquoketa, Iowa .
