Iowa Hawkeyes Football




Iowa Hawkeyes football is the University Of Iowa 's Football program. The team is part of the Big Ten Conference . Their home stadium, Kinnick Stadium , is named after 1939 Heisman Trophy winner Nile Kinnick . The current head coach is Kirk Ferentz .

Iowa's football team plays Iowa State annually for the ''Cy-Hawk Trophy'', a travelling award. Iowa also has a major Big Ten rivalry with Minnesota . The two schools' football teams meet yearly to battle for '' Floyd Of Rosedale '', a trophy in the shape of a bronzed pig.

One of the more well known coaches of Iowa football was Hayden Fry . Hayden Fry took the Hawks' to 14 bowl games and won Big Ten Coach of the Year 3 times. In 1985 he was the National Coach of the Year and took the Hawks' to the Rose Bowl for the 2nd of 3 times.
