Information AboutInterstate 155 (illinois) |
Interstate 155 (abbreviated '''I-155''') is a north-south spur that provides an interstate connection for the Illinois cities of Peoria and Lincoln . The northern terminus for the route is just east of Peoria, at Interstate 74 exit 101. The southern terminus for the route is at Interstate 55 , exit 127. This is northwest of Lincoln. The route is 32.13 miles (51.71 km) long. Previously, the route that I-155 follows was a two lane road known as Illinois State Route 121 . A short Freeway portion was constructed in the mid-1970's to replace a bridge over the Mackinac River . In the early 1990's, the portion of Illinois 121 north of Lincoln was replaced by I-155. Illinois had applied for Interstate 155 to be Interstate 37, but the request was rejected by the American Association Of State Highway And Transportation Officials (AASHTO). EXTERNAL LINKS |
