Information About

Inner-northern Busway, Brisbane

The Inner Northern Busway is a shorter, 4.7km long counterpart to the South-East Busway . It is only partially operational with only station, at Kelvin Grove , which opened in 2004, with the Normanby & Royal Children's Hospital stations opened on the 12th December 2005.

The Inner-Northern Busway will run from the Queen Street Bus Station via a tunnel to a new station King George Square Busway Station (under King George Square ). It will then, via Roma Street, connect to a separate corridor running parallel to the Ekka Loop railway lines to the Normanby Fiveways. The corridor then runs to the inner city suburbs of Kelvin Grove and Herston . It eventually connects to Lutwyche Road at the Royal Brisbane And Women's Hospital near the Inner City Bypass interchange. Most of this corridor has actually been completed apart from the tunnels under King George Square . It will be finished by 2007 and will eventually link to the Northern Busway .
