It was founded by the game's administrators Stefan and Mastermike. New players are put in a training galaxy, where they are accompanied by two tutors per family of maximum 20 players, to learn the basics of the game. The goal of the game is to conquer the galaxy. This can be done in 4 (5 for players with premium accounts) galaxies. The Imperial Conflict forums are the main reason players stick around for a long time, as a tight community is present. Over the last few years, administrator Stefan has attemped in creating new versions of Imperial Conflict. This started with IC2, but he got bored with it and decided to put it in the trash can. A while later the announcement for IC3 came, but at this moment, its development has halted. There have been many changes to the game since it was created, the new races for example.
