The subjects of the songs usually ranged from the kitschy to the absurd (for example the song "Squirrel In The Wind"). The band often deconstructed their angular New Wave influences to the point of bare minimalism - sometimes being mistaken for playing unusual Folk Music . The band was formed in late 1991 by vocalist/bassist Dave Rerecich (who had a penchant for making art-films of the band) and vocalist/guitarist Bill Wikstrom as an almost reactionary response to the Grunge movement of the early 1990s. Rerecich and Wikstrom - friends since early Grammar School - were sometimes joined by fellow Bellerose friend Chris Groben on Percussion and vocals. The band spent several years recording and filming art-films before ever stepping foot on a stage to perform. After recording 1994's ''Satanic Country/Western Music (In 3D)'' (with the songs "Frankie, Young Republican ", "Honey, I Love You" and "Sparky, Jerry & Phillip") and 1995's ''Lavender Sachet'' (with the songs "I Wanna Be A McCormick", "It's Love Tonight Forever" and "Field Of Roses") the band began performing at various venues in the New York City area. They also co-starred in the low-budget films ''Homophobia'' (1993), ''Battles!'' (1994) and ''Krizmas'' (1995) - all of which were directed by Rerecich. They also often recorded ridiculous off-the-wall cover versions of songs by Prince , Adam And The Ants , T.Rex and theme song to the children's Television program The Magic Garden. They went on to record ''Off A Cliff Called Oblivion'' (1996) (which contained the local hits "Rapology", "Part-Time Phantom" and "She My Wife") and ''Fairytales Of Devjani The Imp'' (1997) which contained the songs "I Wanna Be Corey Feldman ", " Massapequa Girl" and "Welcome To My Playpen". After a string of performances at NY's The Vault the band went on a haitus in 1997 until the filming of the 2005 film ''Officers''. Wikstrom has also recorded with The Reckless Few, Endangered Feces and as a solo performer. Both Rerecich and Wikstrom have recorded under the pseudonym Zorro Zero And The Warlocks. DISCOGRAPHY
