It was directed by Steve Paley and hosted by comedian Greg Fitzsimmons . FORMAT Four contestants competed for five days of shows. The scores were tallied for each day. Each was a new competition, but contestants were trying to score as many points as possible in order to qualify for the final round on Friday's show. The winner of the final round on Friday would win the weekly grand prize, usually a vacation or car. Grand Savant Round The winner of each day (Monday through Thursday) would play the bonus round for a small prize, along with bonus points. The contestant chose a topic before appearing, this was his or her "Savant" category. The savant category is the topic that the player knows the most about. This topic can be anything, from academia to popular culture. The contestant had 45 seconds to answer up to ten questions from the savant category, each worth 200 points. Answering all ten correctly also won a minor bonus prize, not affecting the final totals. Friday Finals On Friday, the point values for the first two rounds were doubled, and the low scorer at the end of each round was eliminated from the game. The two remaining players then competed for the weekly grand prize. The player in second place answered questions from his or her savant topic for sixty seconds, each worth 1,000 points. If he caught up with the leader, the leader would have the same opportunity. Whoever ended up with more points won the week. Four new contestants would appear next Monday. Source: IMDB listing |
