The school's official newspaper is called The Garnet, and the official yearbook is called Hermes , named after the Mythological messenger. Editor-in-Chiefs for both are selected from the graduating class at the end of their grade 11 year. The school also has an active student council, with elections taking place each year during the spring. Humberside is also home to many sports teams, and almost all play as the Humberside Huskies. The most recent notable victories include 1st place across the TDSB (Toronto District School Board) in Ultimate (Frisbee) in the 2004/2005 season and 1st place across the TDSB in Tennis in the 2003/2004 season. The traditional closing event for the last assembly of each year (also known as the Farewell Assembly) is normally the Student Slideshow. In recent years, however, the Slideshow has been given a separate assembly. Humberside parents Council is active in cooperating with the school administratives. HISTORY In the first half of the 20th century, Humberside was well-known for its football team, and news of the team's victory often appeared on the front page of the , it overshadowed the resignation of Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King . LOCATION Humberside is located in the Bloor West Village area of Toronto at 280 Quebec Avenue, a short walk from High Park subway station.
