ABOUT THIS AWARD According to Article 3.3.2 of the World Science Fiction Society, a novella is "A science fiction or fantasy story of between seventeen thousand five hundred (17,500) and forty thousand (40,000) words." Awards given in one year are for works published during the previous calendar year.
