The Huddersfield Narrow Canal Pylon, (tower designation ''4ZO251B''), is an Electricity Pylon which stands with its feet over the Huddersfield Narrow Canal near Heyrod , Stalybridge , Cheshire . The Stalybridge Substation was built while the canal was closed to navigation, and when the canal reopened it had to pass between the pylon's legs. One side of the pylon carries the 400 kV Stalybridge–Thorpe Marsh circuit and the other a 275 kV Stalybridge Transformer feeder circuit. This may be the only electricity pylon in the world under which one can pass in a boat. See also In a similar manner, the BT Tower in Birmingham may be the only such structure situated over a canal.
