CAREER Biren joined the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (now Mediacorp TV ) in 1988 after completing its Professional Drama Performers' Training course. Since then, she has become a household name for many Singaporeans . Named as one of the actresses in Mediacorp to have the height and body shape for a model, her delicate facial features, lanky frame and height are thought to have helped Huang to secure leading roles in numerous drama serials. She has acted in a variety of dramatic roles, ranging from contemporary to period drama to comedy, and is also an experienced compere. After working so hard in the television station for almost 10 years, Biren finally managed to win her first Top 10 Most popular Female Artiste award. That was a very big encouragement for her. She went on to potray a lead role in the Chinese drama ''Stand By Me'' , where she portrayed a patient and caring wife of a Paraplegic , led to a "Best Actress" Award at the 1998 Star Awards . Other award-winning lead roles include Kelian in '' Beautiful Connection '' ( 2002 ) and Lucky in '' My Lucky Charm '' ( 2005 ). She was nominated for "Best Actress" in 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005. Biren has also consistently been named as one of the "Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes" at MediaCorp. She is married, and has a son named Justin who was born in the year 2000 . Huang has also been highly respected by many of the new Mediacorp Artistes such as Jeanette Aw , Felicia Chin , just to name a few. Her best friends in the television station include Zoe Tay , Pan Lingling, Hong Huifang, Chen Hanwei , Zheng Geping and many more.
