In May 2005 Sports Illustrated released the results of asking a cross section of Golf Magazine's Top 100 Teachers to vote on the most influential golf swing coaches ever and came up with a consensus top 10. Homer Kelley ranked No.6 on that list.

Quotes: ''"He applied the principles of Physics to golf and opened everyone's eyes to the seemingly infinite ways to swing the club."'' and ''"Some feel The Golfing Machine is the most important golf book ever written, while others believe it's the most complicated"''.

"The Golfing Machine" is a teaching system based on the principle of "Alignment" rather than "Position" Golf. It is extremely difficult to understand the content of the book, especially if you are not following the reading instructions stated in the book. Preferably, to understand the craft in a more advanced level, you will probably have to consult one of their AI's.

David Leadbetter makes the book required reading for instructor-in-training at his golf academies" -Sports Illustrated

However, it is interesting to note that Leadbetter's teachings and ideas of the Golf Stroke do not reflect that shown in The Golfing Machine.

Some players on the PGA TOUR are having a strong interest in TGM in view of improving their game i.e. Steve Elkington {Link without Title}

QUOTES FROM THE GOLFING MACHINE

''It may be that an octopus – or a “thing” from outer space- would need a different procedure, but for people- shaped golfers there is actually only “one swing,”'' --Preface

''SUSTAIN THE LAG!'' --Chapter 3

''Principles are simple – their applications get complicated. The Principle of Golf is the “Line of Compression.” The Mechanics of Golf is the production and manipulation of the “Line of Compression.” The Secret of Golf is sustaining the "Line of Compression." Precision is recognizing and reconciling minute differentiations.''
