The major public holidays in Singapore reflect the cultural and religious diversity of the country, including the Chinese New Year , Buddhist Vesak Day , Muslim Eid Ul-Fitr and Eid Ul-Adha (known locally by its Malay names '' Hari Raya Puasa '' and '' Hari Raya Haji '' respectively), Hindu Diwali (known locally by its Tamil name Deepavali ). While Christian s are a minority, Christmas Day and Good Friday are also public holidays.


PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

The Ministry Of Manpower maintains the complete and updated list of public holidays in Singapore, as issued by the Government .

  • Mondays are public holidays for any public holiday that falls on a Sunday.

  • For Chinese New Year Tuesday 28 February will be public holiday since Monday already is public holiday.

  • The second Hari Raya Haji 2 January will be public holiday since 1 January will be New Years Day.



SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

The following lists scheduled school holidays observed by all students in pre-tertiary level national schools, excluding term holidays.

  • Mondays are school holidays for any school holiday that falls on a Sunday.



OTHER SPECIAL DAYS OBSERVED

The following are known to be observed or celebrated by a significant segment of the Singaporean population, but are not commercial or national holidays.
