DESCRIPTION
The ''Activity'' was a cargo ship converted in the United Kingdom for use as an Escort Carrier for convoys in the Arctic Ocean . Similar to the ''Bogue'' Class Escort Carriers of the United States , British construction was deemed more durable for Arctic convoy protection, as the extreme cold proved capable of creating cracks in American welded vessels.
