Hex Map

The advantage of a hex map over a Square Grid or ''grid map'' is that the distance between a given cell, and all adjacent cells, remains constant. (The distance from the center of a grid map with a cell of side length x and diagonal adjacent cells is x√2 instead of x.) This has made the hex map a favourite for many game designers since the 1970s .

The hex grid was a distinguishing feature of the games from Simulations Publications and Avalon Hill .

A few have been invented for a hex board.
