DETAILS He was approx. 37 years old, and a Private in the 43rd Regiment (later The Oxfordshire And Buckinghamshire Light Infantry ), British Army during the Indian Mutiny when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC. On 2 January 1859 near Kurrereah , India , Private Addison defended a lieutenant against a large force and saved his life when he had fallen on the ground wounded. The private received two dangerous wounds and lost a leg in this gallant service. His Victoria Cross is displayed at the Royal Green Jackets Museum ''(Winchester, England)''. SEE ALSO EXTERNAL LINKS
