Traditionally heart intelligence has been a concept popular in certain Spiritual Movements . Daniel Goleman gave it mainstream exposure in the form of Emotional Intelligence , which stresses the relational and emotive aspects. Leading-edge physiological research done by The Institute of HearthMath suggest that the heart is more than an emotional center, playing a major role in our capacity to know intuitively and directly beyond logic. INSTITUTE OF HEARTMATH The Institute of HearthMath is a non profit 501 (c(3)located in Boulder Creek , California , founded by Doc Childre. According to Childre, thinking with the heart accesses a greater Wisdom and intelligence than thinking with the Logical Mind . Childre is a Consultant , Composer , and motivational Writer , but not a Medical Doctor . HeartMath promotes a form of Biofeedback alleged to not only increase access to the heart's intelligence, but to benefit Heart Health and reduce Stress and problems emerging from stress. Special attention is given to Heart Rate Variability - the pattern of changes in Pulse Rate over time.
