PLOT AND CHARACTERS The novel is written in a Diary form as told by Enrico, a 10-year old primary school student in Italy with an upper-class background with many classmates of working class origin. Enrico's parents and older siblings sometimes correspond with Enrico via his diary. His teacher gives homeworks including stories of model children from all regions of Italy, those stories also are mentioned in the diary. Mostly the topics are about moral values, helping those in need, love for family and friends and patriotism. |
