=Romanian Health System History=

ROMANIAN HOSPITALS

Colţea Hospital was built by Mihai Cantacuzino between 1701 and 1703, comprising many haouses each with 12 to 30 beds, a church, three chapels, a school, medics and teachers hoses.
Pantelimon Hospital was raised in 1733 by Grigorie II Ghica. The surface of the Pantelimon Hospital land property was 4.000.000 sqm. The hospital has in his inventory a house for infectious diseases and a house for the peoples with disabilities.
Filantropia Hospital having a capacity of 70 beds was builded in 1806-1812 during russian occupation.
Since the 1830 the health system in Romania was centralized. The name of the organisation was Civil Hospitals Eforia
By tradition in the romanian health systems the access of the poor or disavantaged people was free.(there are many documented examples regardintg this such is Alexandu Ipsilanti order from 20 nov. 1820 or Thornton traveler book from 1812,or some official documents of the romanian government dating 1811)
In 1830 was inaugurated the Brancoveanu Hospital .

ROMANIAN MEDICS

Even if the healthcare system was organised since 1700, the doctors were from France, Italy, or the germans from the Transyslvania. First Romanian's doctors were graduated medicine in Viena or Paris at the beginning of the XIX century. (such as Stefan Manega or Ioan Serafim -having his degree at Paris on 27 july 1815)
The Romanian healthcare system has his unknown heroes. During the 1828 Plague 21 medics from 26 existing were killed by the plague in Bucharest.


VACCINATION

Smallpox Vaccination was used since 1800. Iacob Polaryno( Constantin Brancoveanu 's medic) has published in Venice 1715 the theory for smallpox prevention.
Considering the small number in the healthcare system in 1815 and the pandemy danger,a workaround was found, vaccinum procedure was teached in theology schools, so the smallpox was prevented using the orthodox priests.
