The Hawai'i Bowl is a post-season National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I-A College Football bowl game that has been played annually at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawai'i on the island of Oahu since 2002 . Played on Christmas or Christmas Eve , the game matches teams from Conference USA and the Western Athletic Conference member schools. In its first year, the Hawai'i Bowl was sponsored by ConAgra Foods . The following year, Sheraton Hotels And Resorts Hawai'i assumed sponsorship which it continues to hold today. The Hawai'i Bowl succeeded the Aloha Bowl (played 1982-2000) and the Oahu Classic (played 1998-2000). Originally, the WAC implied a "Hawaii guarantee", which allowed the University Of Hawaii a bid in the Hawaii Bowl regardless of its standings in the WAC if it was bowl eligible. This agreement was retracted after the WAC lost a bowl bid in 2005. PREVIOUS RESULTS MVPS SEE ALSO List Of College Bowl Games EXTERNAL LINK |
