EARLY HISTORY Harris Technology was started by Ron Harris on 6th October 1986 . After a trip to the USA it became apparent that the IT Retail market in Australia would be receptive to a Computer Superstore. Harris Technology opened their first Superstore in North Sydney under the Bayer Building (formerly Mann Building then Konika Building), with a downstairs call centre. Coles Myer acquired Harris Technology on 1st April 1999 . Harris Technology has since expanded with Superstores in 5 States and a national website covering in excess of 25,000 line items (as of Aug 2003). BUSINESS FOCUS Harris Technology has a Small/Medium Business and Retail focus, with sales teams, websites and stores designed to appeal to this market. Ongoing technical support and sales recommendations are available from engineers certified in Citrix , HP Compaq , Microsoft , IBM , Cisco and Symantec . Harris' website is well known across Australia for its comprehensive coverage and ease of navigation, receiving over 73 thousand visitors every week (as at April 2006). This reach has been further extended by the Harris glossy Catalogue which began in 1989 as 12 pages. By February 2004 it had become a monthly 64 page catalogue with a national distribution of 415,000 copies. Harris catalogues are also printed within magazines such as Australian Personal Computer .
