HARPED

Harping can occur when the rider of a motorcycle is flipped over the handlebars of the bike, or is in one fashion or another able to crash his or her bike in a spectacular fashion.

It can also occur when a motorcycle falls over and drops the rider to the ground. Some riders have been known to deliberately Harped their bikes to avoid an accident. This is usually a bad idea since falling off the bike will most likely cause greater injury than staying with the bike and attempting a controlled stop or purposeful maneuver to avoid an accident.

HISTORY

The word Harped first started to appear in early 2004 when prominent www.bcsportbikes.com {Link without Title} member Harps appeared to have an uncanny ability to consistently crash in weird fashion on his own and borrowed motorcycles. The first motorcycle to ever get Harped was a GSX-R 600 borrowed from Over-the-Top racing's Steve Whiting, who had been kind enough to lend his bike to Harps on Labour Day 2003. By the spring of 2004, numerous motorcycles had been Harped by Harps, and the terminology began to catch on.
